My Project
Every year, our student government has worked to aid and provide for our community. We have done this by setting up food drives, clothing donations, blood drives, and events. Despite this, our fellow students struggle to recognize us as members of the student government. This is because our students are not able to identify us in a crowd. We are in need of uniforms which would allow our diverse student body to know us better. Traditionally, Student Body Officers have either sweaters or letterman jackets. After examining our options, sweaters would be the most affordable option.
We have many low-income students within our school, including members of the student government.
This means that many of us are not able to bear the financial burden of purchasing our own uniforms on top of school fees. Additionally, our school has struggled financially because we are a small early college high school. Due to this many changes have occurred and we have had to adapt to adding another grade to enroll students in.
We have been incredibly dedicated to raising money in order to provide an enjoyable atmosphere at school and help those in need. Last year, we donated all of our funds to help a valued staff member pay for a major car repair that inhibited them from driving safely. If there was anything that we could have over everything else, it would be being able to be recognized by our peers. We want to be able to truly help our fellow students as much as we were able to aid our custodian. Nonetheless, we still lack the ability to reach our full potential as a student government.
