Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My preschoolers just love learning, especially around Christmas time. I am in need of some Christmas books such as Your My Little Christmas, Knuffle Bunny, and Bear Stays Up for Christmas. These books will be great for language, literacy, and reading comprehension at home and school.

We also need some supplies for Christmas crafts such as stockings, bags, gingerbread cutouts, Lego building and play dough gingerbread materials.

These items are great for small/large groups. They support fine motor skills, problem-solving, creativity, turn-taking, and kindness for others. We will use gingerbread playdough for our small group to introduce making different houses and expose the children to fine motor activities, language, creativity, and parallel play. They are very excited to continue learning at home during the Christmas holiday and have books to read with their family that we are reading at school.

The Legos will be used as a small group activity during the holiday months to promote pretend play. Pretend play is a wonderful way for children to build their creativity and imagination while also working on critical areas of development. Pretend play helps children of all ages to develop social, emotional, language, and cognitive skills. These activities will also promote Language Skills. Language Skills: Playing pretend in a group can help children develop important communication skills. They’ll vocalize their ideas, express their feelings, and collaborate with others. Playing pretend can also build their vocabulary. By exploring new topics, ideas, and settings, they’ll learn new words and concepts.
