Culinary Arts students are gaining real world skills in the kitchen! Students are applying real world skills of math, reading, business and professionalism through our culinary arts classroom. We are collaborating with the Special Education department to determine a weekly menu, take orders, create a cost analysis, determine pricing, prepare the items, collect the money and deliver special treats once a week to the teachers at our school, a collaboration known as Blue Devil Sweet Treats.
The items we are requesting are needed to safely, professionally and attractively store and deliver student created cakes, muffins, scones and other homemade bakery items.
In addition to the weekly teacher items, students are also practicing cake decorating and other career related skills to make them more competitive in the food service industry. Availability of these resources will improve student productivity and enhance student services and presentation of creations.
