Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students come from all over Philadelphia and bring with them a wonderful mix of culture, passion, and energy. Parkway is a magnet school where students apply to come and are excited to be here. They know that they want to go to college and work hard to achieve their goals. I love their excitement and their dedication to their work and passions. Students at Parkway want to share their academic and nonacademic interests with each other and the community.

My Project

Most of our students have to work after school to help support their families, so they often don't have time for after school clubs. This year, to combat that problem, we are going have clubs during the day to give them a chance to join! Teachers are giving up their Friday study hall to sponsor clubs from Art Club to Debate Club to Film Club. While most of our clubs don't require more supplies than the projectors in our classrooms, Art Club needs more. We don't have the budget for art supplies and we need y'all's help to make Art Club a reality.
