My students need the following materials to provide a productive and functional, upper grade learning experience. These materials are essential elements in their educational journey. They need chairs, a table, books, game libraries, markers, pencils, etc.
My second graders transitioning to third graders are articulate, inquisitive, and creative students. My students are energetic and love to interact with one another in various ways such as independently, buddy groups, and whole class groups as well. They enjoy learning and deserve an environment that supports the high demands of such an imperative grade(3rd). Due to minimal resources in my Harlem based school district, it is extremely challenging to provide students with adequate materials to support a productive learning experience.
My Project
The materials requested will attribute to the students' overall learning throughout the school year. The furniture will help the students to engage in the various group style interactions and provide a transitional/uniform class environment. In addition to furniture(chairs and a table), the school supplies such as pencils and markers will help alleviate the stress of some students not having the resources. The books are needed to help students develop and increase their independent reading levels, which will benefit them greatly in this current testing grade. The following donations requested will build a sense of equity and class community because all students will benefit from the resources. By investing in my awesome third graders, you are sending a lifelong message...they will make a way in 3rd grade!
