This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine not ever having the chance to play with a puzzle? Most of my students have never experienced playing with a puzzle. These puzzles can make their day because they are helping my students to learn new skills and expand their imagination.
My students are four-year old, native and monolingual Spanish speakers.
They are 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from Latin America who come from mostly low-income families. The priority in these families is to provide for the basic needs of their children which does not include educational toys. In the 21st century, it has been proven that children learn differently by using different sensory techniques. Puzzles offer opportunities to apply different learning styles. My children attend a k4 through 8 elementary bilingual public school in Wisconsin. All of my students can learn by having fun. This is one way to motivate them to want to go to school and learn.
My Project
By using the puzzles my students can have fun learning the key concepts and skills in the K4 curriculum. They come to the school with enthusiasm and happiness because they know they are going to have fun and and experiment with new things and ideas. As a result, my students will have new motivation and inspiration to achieve excellence in their academic career and beyond. They will expand their horizons and explore new ideas that will form the base for future learning and experimentation in the upper grades.
This financial support will change 30 lives by offering a different way of learning.
It will provide resources for tools to develop knowledge and skills that they might not otherwise acquire through traditional teaching styles. These puzzles will inspire them to explore places and things they never would have before. The pictures in the puzzles will expand their world by connecting them with places and things they have not seen and grow their curiosity to learn more.
