My students need a class set of Bud, Not Buddy. Participating in a class novel study is much more exciting and interesting when each student has their own book!

I am a fourth grade teacher at an amazing school. I have the privilege of working with an amazing group of students every day. My kids love to learn and truly become excited when I introduce new things, and I enjoy being a part of that excitement. We encourage reading daily in school because once the students leave us, we know that many do not have the opportunity or encouragement to read at home.
My main goal each school year is to help my students discover the love of reading by helping them learn to understand books.
I believe that each child is capable to being a strong, independent reader, they just need someone to help guide them in the right direction. I hope to help my students through this novel study with Bud, Not Buddy.
When I decided to begin a novel study with my students, I knew that I needed a book that my students could really connect with in order to gain the most out of this.
I am so excited at the prospect of introducing them to Bud, Not Buddy, because I think that each of my students can relate to the trials and tribulations in the book.
Giving my students different reading options, along with topics they can relate to, can make a world of difference. It can open up doors to a world that these children did not know existed. As an educator in an area where school is not a priority, this is a major goal.
