Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Here at KLA, we represent diversity. Our students, as well as our teachers, come from all different types of backgrounds. Not only are we motivated in bringing our students together, but also our community. Establishing a community within our school starts with creating a family, and creating a family means caring for each other. And coming here to DonorsChoose.org to tell our story is an additional step as a teacher to show my students that I care.

Currently, we as a department want to help students fall in love with themselves and their growth.

Allowing and providing various opportunities to experience new exercises and challenge each other is what we strive for. My students express daily what they like and don't with the activities we conduct during class, and I do my best to incorporate exercises, activities, drills, etc., they enjoy. Many of our students come from homes where opportunities for growth are limited, and this is why I do what I do. Exposure and education create dreams and aspirations, and with my help, I plan to do what I can for my students to succeed. My students don't ask for anything, which is why I love asking for them.

My Project

In attempts to grow our weight training unit, utilizing a large leg press machine that is independent and self explanatory will assist teachers in growing our entire class simultaneously. Our students thrive when introduced to new exercise equipment and it will be nice to help them become inspired with growing physically and expanding their personal health and wellness knowledge. Utilizing machines like the one requested are far in between our students access. Therefore, putting a project online for something out of our reach financially may help as a solution. We are always trying to grow our PE department here at KLA and give our students something to look forward too!
