My Students

These highly energetic 6th graders are eager to engage and learn after experiencing the unforeseen virtual learning experience last school year. They are adapting to the middle structural and organizational models, while trying to overcome any learning loss that may have been experienced. Overall, they are visually inclined and learn best when physical objects are accessible or technology is infused. I desire to target their learning strengths and give them the best opportunity to continue to grow and develop in their conceptual understanding.

However, in the days of blended learning, we must alter our teaching practice and incorporate the innovations to technology to both accommodate their generational ability to manipulate technology and meet those visual learning tendencies.

I desire to expand my prior technological threshold in efforts to bring my students to a higher level of academic success.

My Project

Transitioning to middle school brings challenges both socially and academically. Many students experience an easier transition when the resources that they utilize are aligned with the resources that shaped their academic development and conceptual understanding.

Although the unforeseen circumstances had a great impact on our student's learning and development, we now have the opportunity to close gaps and restore their development by creating an effective learning environment.

Acclimating them with the routines and structures and equipping them with the tools to learn are the keys to their development.

The blended learning structure is heavily dependent on laptops and digital demands. These demands can overwhelming to students when they are experiencing inevitable tech issues and their work is dependent upon it. Therefore, I desire to equip my classroom with additional devices to assist my students when they are experiencing technology issues. As a result, learning will continue and anxiety relieved. The HP Chromebook 14A G5 is a great quality and compatible with our workstation.
