Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten in a focus school of 800 students. The students are 79% free and reduced lunches.
I have an obstacle, our budget cuts limits our school in buying laminating material. I use center games daily in literacy as independent work. Little five year old hands tend to bend and get the games dirty. I could preserve these games for a longer time if I could laminate them.
We also make math work mats shaped like an apple tree for counting and sorting. We use these for the entire year. At Mother's Day we make a hand print for a gift. Last year there was no laminating material we had to send the gift home without laminating it.
The stapler is used to repair the books that are on the table in the student's basket and also their take-home reading books.
As you can see, these items will be used for the students in every area of the curriculum. In Social Studies we make a school map that would last much longer if laminated. We also need names tags, table tags and field trip name tags. In Science we laminate fall leaves and we make a four season poster.
I would appreciate so much if you consider funding this project.
