My Project

Reading about diverse characters can be a powerful and enriching experience for the reader. It allows them to see the world from a different mindset and develop empathy and understanding for people who are different from themselves. Only 12.12% of children's books are about black or African characters so some children don't get to see characters like themselves in literature.

We want to include all characters in our class library!

This project includes books with African American, female main characters and a comfy chair to enjoy them in. The children will meet strong minded, smart main characters!
