Aloha, my name is Cassie Coonradt. I'm a second grade teacher. Tragically on August 8, 2023 our school burned down the day before the first day of school. We lost family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, children, our entire town. It has been so much loss and devastation since that day. I have been a teacher for the past 14 years. I had a lovely classroom full of learning materials, games, toys, prizes, rugs, sports equipment, books, posters, etc. I also had irreplaceable things like books made from each class every year, photos of all my previous classes, awards, and student art/notes/letters. It's sad to think it's all ash now but we have to IMUA which means to move forward.
IMUA is Hawaiian for "move forward." It is now our purpose to not look back because we aren't going in that direction.
Our purpose now is to look forward and rebuild what we once had. The materials that are here in my cart would help the future second graders reach their full potential. As you see I included many learning games because I feel that students learn best when they're playing games and having fun. These students have been through so much and with your generous donation for these materials I know our students will thrive once again.
