This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All students come to school with inherent mathematical understanding. It's our job as teachers to help them develop and strengthen their number sense. What's number sense, you ask? Number sense is the ability to think flexibly and intuitively about numbers.
Number sense is best developed from students' personal experiences engaging in rich mathematical tasks.
Having a variety of math tools will support my students in building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These hands-on math manipulative tools will help give my students concrete experiences manipulating numerical quantities, and learning to count, group, sort, add, subtract, and weigh objects.
