My Students

Math! This is a subject that people generally feel very strongly about in one way or another. Whether you love it or hate it, we all need to know it. My goal is to teach it to all my students in a way that is engaging and fun, but empowers them to be and feel like successful mathematicians.

Second graders are the best.

They are creative, curious, and funny. There is never a dull moment with them! In addition to content, they are learning when to listen and when to be social, how to collaborate and cooperate, and learning how to be independent, motivated learners. This is a lot! As a teacher, it is my job to make sure students are enjoying learning so that they continue to love school and becoming lifelong learners. One way that I can do this is by using Guided Math. Through this model, I am able to provide more individual instruction and better address student needs. It is a wonderful teaching model, but it requires a lot of preparation and materials. The materials that I am requesting will help my students remain engaged and motivated learners, while providing lots of practice for the skills I am teaching.

My Project

During my Guided Math Block, students rotate through a number of stations. They practice basic facts, problem solving, review previously taught skills, use technology, play games, maintain a math journal, and meet with me for direct instruction. as you can imagine, this keeps us very busy! While I create many of the materials my students use, we have many standards to learn and review. I am requesting some prepared games to keep the activities fresh and exciting for my students. I have requested Math in Minutes! Skill-Building Center, Ready-To-Go! Independent Math Activities, Understanding Place Value Using Manipulatives and Addition & Subtraction Double Dice Games.

I love school and teaching and want to foster that in my students, as well.

Building strong mathematical knowledge is so vital, but does not need to be boring. These materials will help enhance my students learning experience and keep them on the path of becoming magnificent mathematicians!
