This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember how boring learning math from a math book was? My students would really benefit from some fun exciting ways to learn math skills... but still have fun.

I have a classroom of 24 students.

They majority are English Language Learners who receive free or reduced lunch. They come from homes where both parents work and the kids become latch key kids or spend a lot of time with babysitters. My students love learning but do not always have access to the materials that encourage learning to their full capacity. I have a few students who attend speech class and 3 students who attend our Learning Center for a portion of the day.

My Project

My student are primarily Spanish speaking so vocabulary is difficult for them. Although math is mostly numbers, they have a hard time with word problems and understanding math vocabulary. That is why games and puzzles are ideal. They can have fun while learning. I am requesting a couple different sets of math matching puzzles, pattern blocks with activity cards to create pictures with shapes, a set of games that can be played with partners to generate discussions about math problems and a math listening center where kids listen and follow directions along with an activity card.

If you fund this project you will be helping my class and my future classes have fun while learning and being engaged in math activities.

This would be a great supplement to my already existing math program. Thank you in advance.
