My Students
My position allows me to work with students ranging from third grade all the way to fifth grade. As a math coach, I get the opportunity to work with these students in a small group setting. Because most of my students come from a low socio-economic status, they don't always have the means needed to supply themselves with classroom materials. Despite their struggles, my students come to school eager to be loved and to be taught. They thrive in an environment that is rich with hands-on manipulatives.
My Project
Because I work with various grade levels, I am asking for a variety of math manipulatives that will benefit 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade mathematicians. I work closely with struggling students in small group settings on specific deficits who may have not been able to grasp the taught concept the first time around.
My students will greatly benefit from being able to see a concrete representation of various math problems.
My magnificent mathematicians will be able to meet their full potential in difficult areas such as fractions, multiplication, place value, and addition. I will be able to set a solid foundation of crucial skills with the manipulatives I am asking for.
