My students need these Magna Tiles to help with problem solving in math. They are so wonderful for exploring and building that kids do not realize they are doing math!

My Students
Do you remember being a kid and how all you wanted to do was build and create and explore? Well, the children in my classroom don't have the opportunity to fully explore and create without manipulatives. Magna tiles would help the children explore shapes and 3 dimensional shapes.
My students are a motivated group of First Graders who come from a low socio economic community.
These manipulatives would allow the children to be kids. Kids learn from doing. With these manipulatives not only could they access the common core better, they can actually feel a sense of accomplishment for building and creating. It would be a hands on approach. The skills learned are more meaningful this way because they are not solely pencil paper. Creativity is its own reward.
My Project
Magna tiles are not solely for math. They can be used for all types of creative building. Students can create and then review the steps for recount writing in language arts, they can develop manuals for building for other students, they can explore shapes of all types because these manipulatives are magnetic. It is really something which will bring curriculum alive!
Building develops creativity.
Creativity breeds problem solving. Problem solving is crucial in critical thinking, personal relationships, and productivity. Our goal as teachers is to give all students the tools necessary to be college ready. Please give my students the tools they need to achieve. Thank you!
