Magnetizing Great Work in Second Grade

My Students

My brilliant group of 22 second graders are learning and growing everyday. Each of these sweet kiddos have a story of their own and I want to be the one to help them learn how to tell it. This year they are learning and growing through a lot of hands-on learning. I have some future authors, architects, engineers, doctors, and teachers sitting right in my classroom. I would appreciate any help in providing tools they need to use their voice in their writing and witness how math is in their everyday life.

My Project

These magnetic tiles are going to be a great way for my students to activate the brains and get them engaged for the day. They will be using these for STEM bins in the mornings. My students love to build and create new things so giving them this opportunity first thing in the morning will get them excited to continue the day filled with learning and fun. STEM bins are also great for my "early finishers" so they will have something to work on that doesn't give them busy work but more meaningful work that is hands-on, engaging, and open-ended.

Another way to implement STEM in the classroom is by making slime!

Laundry detergent is a key ingredient used when making safe slime in the classroom. With both of these products I know my students will have more opportunities for hands-on and engaging learning.
