Magnetic Words

My students need new magnetic letters to help with spelling, and magnetic white boards to build words on.

My Students

Our world is becoming more technology-driven with each passing year. I will teach two blocks of social studies and reading to 50 third graders this coming school year. They have a hunger for technology, and using it to solve real-world problems. They attend a high poverty school district, and we are a Title I school. Most students do not have access to these types of technology outside of school. They enjoy playing interactive educational games to increase their reading and math skills. My students are visual learners and will benefit from using these devices to look up and view different social studies events and battles that we learn about in third grade.

My Project

My students are in great need of materials to help with their spelling. These magnetic letters will allow students to use their hands to build spelling patterns. They will each have a white board to build and practice word families and blends. The organizer will help us keep up with our materials in one area for easy access and use.

My students are also wanting some more practice with area, perimeter, and fractions.

These math related white boards will meet our needs! We will use the magnetic blocks to represent different fractions, and to create new shapes.

My students will get a lot of use and extend their learning with these materials.
