This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This proposal seeks funding for a unique and engaging student activity that merges creativity, self-expression, and mindfulness. The “Magnetic Words: A March Madness Poetry Tournament for Student Creativity” aims to bring students together for a fun and meaningful poetry competition while offering a calming and supportive space to foster emotional well-being. By using magnetic poetry sets, students will engage in friendly competition, practice literary skills, and experience the therapeutic benefits of creative expression in a tranquil environment.

Project Objectives

Engage students in creative writing and literary expression through a dynamic, interactive, and competitive March Madness-style tournament using magnetic poetry.

Foster a calming and quiet space for students to focus, reflect, and relax while participating in the poetry tournament.

Encourage mindfulness and emotional well-being as students tap into the therapeutic benefits of creativity and engage in self-expression.

Build community and collaboration by allowing students to come together in a supportive and low-pressure environment.

Goals and Outcomes

Increased Engagement in Creative Writing: Students will explore the joy of creative writing and express their thoughts and feelings through poetry, an activity that is not only fun but deeply reflective.

Improved Emotional Regulation: The integration of calming strategies and mindfulness will help students manage stress and enhance their emotional resilience, especially in a competitive, yet supportive setting.

Strengthened Community Bonds: The event will promote collaboration, build a sense of belonging, and encourage mutual respect as students engage with one another in a fun, low-pressure environment.

The “Magnetic Words: A March Madness Poetry Tournament for Student Creativity” combines creativity, competition, and mindfulness in a way that will benefit students both intellectually and emotionally. With this grant, we can provide students not only with a fun and enriching experience but also with a space that encourages relaxation, focus, and well-being.
