I teach full-day pre-k. We have a great opportunity to teach students from many diverse backgrounds, such as English Language Learners (ELLs), at-risk students and first-time learners. All of these scholars need rich language opportunities and exposure to the world around them. These experiences help develop a necessary foundation for future learning. My students are curious, creative and enthusiastic young learners that love diving into meaningful play experiences.
We provide an environment that allows them to thrive and grow in their own unique way.
Our goal is to develop a love of learning that will continue to grow.
My Project
Magna-Tiles are fun building blocks that students want to use again and again! Their unique ability to create buildings and creations that other blocks cannot make them a classroom favorite.
Not only do students get to make their own creations, they can also learn all about shapes!
Throughout the year students are asked to name and analyze both 2-D and 3-D shapes. Magna-Tiles will help my students become familiar with geometric shapes by providing a fun and hands-on learning experience. Using these Magna-Tiles to build shapes would help students understand that we can represent 3-D shapes (including cubes, pyramids, cones) by using flat 2-D patterns. This learning experience would also benefit their use of fine motor skills, strengthen their hand-eye coordination, and stimulate their creativity.
