All of our students are studying to become bilingual citizens in a two-way dual immersion program. We are a Title I school in rural Delaware.
We have 42 wonderful students from various ethnicities!
Their diversity makes our classrooms unique and special places to celebrate multicultural backgrounds.
We have high expectations for our students. Our classrooms are all about fun, teamwork, building each other up and kindness! We have so many laughs! For example, today one of my students said that she could not hold her burp because she was afraid it would come out as a fart and that would be embarrassing. Of course, a lot of serious and amazing meaningful learning goes on but these hilarious moments make our days special.
My Project
I teach English Language Arts in second grade immersion. I have 42 wonderful and inquisitive students who love to read and explore.
Second grade is when the kids love to "jump into" chapter books and start feeling like "adult" readers.
With so many kids wanting to read, my classroom needs to have many chapter book series. Kids are checking out books left and right, I am not keeping up with their demands, which is a wonderful thing! Sometimes a student wants a second or a third book in the series, but I don't have it because another child checked it out.
I would love your help purchasing these series because they will create multiple opportunities for my second graders to explore different characters, their problems and solutions; my students will be able to talk about the literature and analyze various concepts discussed in the classroom.
