My Project
Our students are creating a cultural mural celebrating "Ola i ka wai" (Water is Life) that connects our school community garden with Hawaiian traditions. The mural depicts Kane and Kanaloa - ancestral deities represented as a whale and kalo plant - symbolizing the sacred relationship between ocean waters and fresh waters that sustain all life. We are seeking ceramic mosaic tiles to add essential texture, dimension, and shimmer to the water elements flowing throughout the artwork. These tiles will allow our students to create rippling effects and light-catching surfaces that bring the water to life, making the connection between these gods and our garden's sustainable water practices visually stunning. Your donation of mosaic tiles will enable our students to honor these cultural connections while learning traditional artistic techniques that transform our two-dimensional design into a tactile celebration of water's life-giving force.
