My Students
"What comes next?" This is a question I hear all the time during Math lessons. Please help my students have new materials to make learning hands-on and fun! They will be able to solve the problems and feel more confident with the new materials.
I teach Kindergarten at a high poverty school.
Around 80 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. The hard economic times are very prevalent in our district. I have 19 students in my class. The children that I teach are very sweet and want to be loved. They try hard to please and love hearing praise and words of encouragement. It is very important for them to build their confidence in academic skills.
It is very important for Kindergartners to have hands-on materials to enrich their learning experience. Their attention spans are not meant to sit on a rug and listen to a lecture. The best way for Kindergartners to learn is to have interaction with their subject and get involved. The children get so excited and are ready to learn when they have opportunities for hands-on activities.
My Project
I am asking for six different Math resources. These resources include addition and subtraction mats, a count and solve kit, a patterning kit, counters, and a magnetic write and wipe board with a supply caddy. The board will provide a new center area for the students to practice their Math skills and concepts. The counters, patterning kit, and the addition and subtraction mats will help reinforce the concepts that are found in our state standards and Math books. These activity mats and kits will inspire the children to learn more and will give them feelings of confidence and achievement when they complete the activities. They will help ensure a love of Math.
By helping my classroom, you will be changing the lives of 19 students this year, plus many more in the future.
I want my students to enjoy learning and love school. These materials will help them be successful and have fun while learning. The hands-on materials will help them make sense of concepts, and their new knowledge will stay with them forever. Please open your hearts to these wonderful children who deserve these materials.
