Magical Math Modeling with Chromebooks

My students need new four Lenovo Chromebooks as an alternative method of understanding curriculum.

My Students

Our diverse population of students comes to class every day prepared to achieve anything. Even if they find specific subjects challenging, they come in with a "can do" attitude. They help each other and take every opportunity to voice their ideas and ask their questions.

Our math class is a fully inclusive classroom in which students with and without learning disabilities learn together.

Not all of our students learn the same way and many students need multiple learning modalities to access the curriculum.

My Project

Our students really retain information when it is taught outside of the typical lecture and note taking method. They enjoy playing math games, such as Kahoot, using modeling programs like the ones found on mathplayground.com, and accessing online math textbooks.

The additional Chromebooks will greatly enhance the understanding of abstract math concepts among all students.

Additionally, students with learning difficulties in comprehending math will benefit substantially.

Technology is essential for exploring big-picture concepts in math. Online models are also extremely helpful with reinforcing new concepts. They are far more convenient than distributing fraction pieces or algebra tiles, and can sometimes show ideas more clearly than the tangible models can.
