Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am requesting math items for my classroom to help bolster student engagement and interest in mathematics. Oftentimes when you ask a student what their favorite subject in school is, it is far and few between that you will hear them respond with math. My goal is to change that in my classroom and with the students within it.
Math doesn't have to be fear inducing or dull - it can be fun and foster creativity and collaboration!
My students come from families that likely will not have access to learning materials for their children. So it is my hope that I can provide them with an abundance of that at school. For them to utilize and further develop their learning and understanding in math.
Math teaches vital skills branching beyond the scope of algebra or geometry. It teaches grit, creativity, collaboration, and innovative thinking. That is why it is so important that we as educators, help in fostering a love for the subject in our students. The skills that math employs will branch out into every aspect of their lives in the near and distant future. Please help me, help my students - thank you!
