My Students

I teach math to 50 fourth grade students in a small, rural town in Virginia. Each student is special and many face challenging obstacles on a daily basis. They come from different economic backgrounds but when they are in my math class, I try to create a safe place for them to learn in and be comfortable with one another.

My students love it when we have hands-on learning in our math class, especially during our math station time.

My Project

The items we are asking for will help the students understand the math standards in fourth grade by learning with a hands-on approach.

Using math manipulatives and games can make math feel "magical" and exciting.

The fraction game, fraction/decimal tiles, fraction dominoes, geometric shapes, liquid measurement containers, and elapsed time flash cards are items that can help my students learn about fractions, decimals, measurement, and elapsed time, which can be difficult skills.

The students will use the manipulatives and games throughout the year as they learn the standards and also to review for the state assessment. We will use them as a whole group or during math stations.
