Magical Carpet Ride

Help me give my students a clean new rug to sit on during large group lessons.

My Project

We have four large group teacher led lessons each day. I would like to have a large colorful rug with defined spaces for the students to sit on when large group lessons are being taught.

Currently, my students have to sit on the hard tile floor.

I had to throw my old rug away because it could not be cleaned to my satisfaction. Each lesson lasts 15-20 minutes. The rug will help the students feel more comfortable when sitting for large group lessons. They are also likely be a more attentive and engaged during the lessons.

The students will also be able to bring manipulatives, puzzles and other materials in the classroom to the carpet durng choise time. This carpet has letters, pictures, and colors on it. This will help my studentls, especially the English Language Learners, learn basic pre-academic skills such as colors shapes, and letters. These skills will be built upom througout the school year. The large rug will provide a variety of learning opportunities for all students in the classroom.
