My students are eager readers! As first graders they make large jumps throughout a school year. They need books that have a sentence on the page to chapter books! They quickly read through books and are always on the search for something new and exciting! My students are located in the North-East section of Philadelphia. We also have a high ESL population. At our school, we have a very large diverse community of students.
My Project
Many people reflect back on their experiences as a student and remember fond memories of their teachers reading them stories. The Magic Tree House collection inspires students to think creatively and imagine themselves in a world beyond the classroom. Over the pandemic, I was able to show my students authors reading Magic Tree House through youtube. I would love the opportunity to own the collection and create these experiences with my students. If this project is funded, I will be able to bring the story and characters of Magic Treehouse to life daily with my students during our daily read-aloud.
