Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have been fortunate to receive a donation from MagiKids for a large quantity of cards. This will allow the students to learn about the game and all that goes into it. This includes understanding its history, the rules of the game, the various releases, how colors interact with each other, how to construct decks based on archetypes, and mokre. Through all of this work, the hope is that this will be a fun and engaging way to simultaneously push their acquisition of the English language.
Magic, at its core, is a language-based game.
It does help that the art is beautiful, and this will provide yet another avenue to practice talking and writing in English about card art. In short, I see this Magic Monday becoming a very highly leveraged day where kids can acquire a new hobby that they can carry forward for a lifetime while practically engaging them with the complexities of the English language. Anyone knows this from reading text on a Magic card.
While we are so fortunate to have these cards incoming, I want to make sure that they are protected. We need materials to sleeve and store constructed decks. This is where this request via Donors Choose comes into play. This project will serve to help protect these cards. This is an underserved population, and I believe an experience to take care of and create a special system for these cards is a good skill and experience for them to be exposed to. This donation will allow that to happen. I am excited to grow an appreciation for Magic.
