My 4th grade students are high energy, creative, and curious learners who learn best in the non traditional way! They prefer hands on learning activities, games, and music whenever possible. They are often reflective on their practices (and themselves) and look frequently for ways to improve their work.
They are kind.
We have worked hard to build a community of trust, respect, and appreciation. We spend several times a week discussing how we can improve ourselves not only as learners, but as citizens. My students are willing to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas to help make themselves and the world around them a better place. I am very honored to be the teacher of these future leaders and world changers!
While my students will not be able to attend this conference with me they will benefit from having a more engaging classroom! This conference is hosted by Wade and Hope King of the Get Your Teach on Family! They have taken their years of experience in the classroom and what it takes to engage students and are sharing it with teachers all around the world! Not only will they be there, but some of the most knowledgeable teachers around the country will be there to share their ideas too!
Their philosophies and ideas have brought the biggest change to classrooms around the globe.
The conference encourages teachers to think outside of the normal pencil and paper assignment, but rather create an experience in which kids will remember and learn from. One great example that the conference spends time discussing is using music whenever you can and classroom transformations. If you are reading Harry Potter, what can you do to change your classroom in to Hogwarts? Can you dress up as one of the characters? If we are learning about math can you makeup a song to learn your multiplication facts? What about the steps to a multiplication problem?
One thing that is immeasurable with this conference is how it fills your teacher bucket and the energy you bring back to the classroom. A full teacher bucket pours over in to your students and your classroom! A fully funded project would allow for the opportunity to impact myself and change my classroom!
