This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at an urban elementary school in Connecticut, which consists of Pre-K through 8th grades. My school is a Title I public school where most of the families are low income. My school is a great school where there is a focus on giving all students the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways.
My students are an awesome group of students who are ready and excited to learn every day!
My students are in a self-contained special education class setting for grades one through four that focuses on students with special needs with various disabilities. Despite their challenges, they are eager to learn and deserve every opportunity to do so. I am very fortunate to be able to work with these students who strive to achieve in every way. My students truly need a carpeted area to sit while they attend morning meeting and practice their basic skills, such as learning the calendar, days of the week, and months of the year. Having a new soft carpet will help them to practice sitting in their own space, sitting next to a friend, and learning all at the same time. They can also use this as an area to sit comfortably while reading, working on puzzles or playing a game with a friend. Having this carpet will help the students to enjoy learning is a very relaxed manner.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
