This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am in a new classroom teaching a new grade band. I was able to bring a lot of materials from my previous classroom but I also inherited materials and classroom furniture. One such item was a large rug for read-alouds and whole-group instruction. Initially, I believe this rug would work as it is large and has a fun design.
However personal space has been a challenge for my students.
The current rug we have is of the solar system and does not have any defined spaces for them to sit in. I would love to get a new rug that has squares as it will provide a visual for them to see how much space they should be taking up. My hope is that this will help them stay in their space and be able to respect each other's need for personal space.
