My students need a classroom rug on which to convene and focus on learning!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As an active first grade class, we use the classroom rug area to foster focus and learning in all academic and social areas. My students benefit from the close proximity of each other as well as myself. This area allows all of our ideas and thoughts to be heard and celebrated!
My first graders are eager learners!
They have a zest for new experiences. There are 900 students from Preschool to fifth grade. Our school has a 87% poverty rate. Free breakfast and lunch are provided for all students. Several students are homeless and in foster care. The school is an urban setting which many students ride the bus to and from school. 67% of students are English Language Learners of all levels. However, my students have a love of learning and enjoy arriving daily to school.
My Project
Can you image teaching first graders while sitting at their desks all day? As a first grade teacher my students need to be able to have flexible learning areas within the classroom. Having a classroom rug in front of my classroom allows my students the fluid learning areas, an area where they can focus on the teacher and each other in a close area. Having a classroom rug fosters the learning adventure of education!
Through your donation(s) to this project, it will improve my classroom learning environment and foster my students' engagement in lessons taught throughout the day.
This will change their lives for the better, by providing them with the optimal learning environment! We will be forever grateful of your donation.
