This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kiddos are amazing! Each day, they walk into our classroom full of energy and ready to learn despite many challenges they face before entering our classroom door.
As a teacher at a Title I school in Florida, 100 percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch based on low socio-economic status.
Our classroom is in full swing this year and I love to provide my students with hands-on learning experiences! Some of my students are learning letter and number identification while others are ready to read, write, and count. We are all growing together and I hope to provide a learning environment that creates a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
My Project
In Kindergarten, most of our learning time takes place on our classroom rug! Every student has a special place in my heart and in our classroom. The "A Place for Everyone" rug truly gives students their own individual place during our fun filled learning time.
When each student has adequate personal space, behavior problems decrease and learning increases.
Additionally, the colored rows offer students an opportunity to practice color recognition when moving to other areas of our classroom. For instance, "Blue row, stand up and walk to your number spot." Giving specific instructions in a kindergarten classroom is a must!
