My students need a clean and organized space to sit every morning while we have our morning meetings and shared readings.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning, I sit down and meet with my dual language students to have our morning meetings. We go over our daily schedule, special announcements, observe the date and weather, even practice our spelling words!
Here is where we will meet to connect ourselves to one another, one peer to another.
I have 50 students in total.
They are split in two groups, one group is my homeroom class the other is my wonderful co-teacher's class. We both love our students and wish to only provide the best learning environment for them. Our school follows a 50/50 alternate side model, where we each have 50% predominately English dominant speakers and the other 50% are predominately Spanish speakers. 100% of our students are ELL's. Each one of our students is learning how to formally and academically communicate in English and Spanish. We practice our speaking, listening and writing skills every day! Whether through free writes, journals, or open-discussions, our school provides a safe and warm environment that allows our students to succeed in a rigorous program.
My Project
This carpet will not only give my students a reason to stop fighting over the small carpet spaces they currently have, but also provide them with a more open environment to share ideas and passions.
We'll be able to sit and read more comfortably. I won't have to worry about those 2-3 students who are sitting on 3 inches of carpet and the rest on the floor. I'll be able to look at my students and know that they are each comfortable and relaxed, and not counting down the seconds that they get to go back to their desks.
This project will be one step towards the right direction for my students.
It will bring them all closer to one another. It will make our (class) community feel safer and warmer knowing that each students has their own space in the classroom. AND it will give them less reasons to interrupt my morning meeting. :)
