Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Scholastic magazines will give my students an opportunity to read more nonfiction texts in class. Reading nonfiction has always been on the “back burner” for many students because it is very technical and it is full of information. However, Scholastic magazines and the SuperScience magazines can change students’ minds about how they look at nonfiction reading. These magazines will help my students learn how to read nonfiction passages and how to break them down for understanding. Students can then apply this knowledge of nonfiction texts to their textbooks that they use daily. In addition to reading the interesting passages, my class will be learning about the world around them.

Scholastic magazines and SuperScience magazines can help my students practice reading nonfiction in a fun way!

Textbooks are often written in a way that students can’t comprehend. Learning how to read nonfiction by using the magazines can improve my students for various nonfiction reading material, and they have the opportunity to learn about the world they live in.
