My Students

My classroom operates like a learning lab. My students are engaged in books and conversations with one another. I like to help them create their own meaningful experiences by offering a wide range of engaging texts. My children learn early on that books are fun and aide us in our journeys.

Students become readers and thinkers when we give them access to a variety of engaging texts they love.

My second graders are budding readers. They are beginning to see that they can gain information by themselves through reading. I want to enhance my community of thinkers and readers by giving them access to great texts. Every kid can be a reader if we allow them access to texts they enjoy!

My Project

Literacy is the process through which all content is learned. Children need exposure to many mediums in which they can explore the literacy world. Magazines are a non-threatening way to explore many topics. Who doesn't love to flip through a magazine? I want these magazines to offer my students a highly engaging experience that will whet their appetite for reading and learning. I have a variety of readers in my second grade classroom. Some are early beginning readers and some are transitional readers. They are on the precipice of reading to learn instead of learning to read. It is such an exciting time for them and I want great content for them to learn from as they develop as readers.
