Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We believe every child can learn if we challenge, guide, and provide the tools needed. By the end of the year, all children will improve their literacy skills, science, and mathematical skills. Our students will be more active, play together, have healthier lives, and learn about tolerance among them and our school community, which will aid them in being more successful in the next grade. The challenge comes with the lack of materials, equipment , and all the budget cuts.
We have a high number of free or reduced-price lunch students in our school and district.
Our classrooms are an all-inclusive model, where all children learn together. Because of the bad economy, some of our students are homeless at times. They are immigrant English learners from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spanish learners from the community around the school. My children are so eager to learn new things. Our wonderful staff in our community school continues to learn and implement new ways to teach our students and strive to help everyone succeed.
My Project
My dual language learners need Spanish and Science Magazines. My students will use the Spanish and Science Magazines to continue developing Spanish reading skills, learn about Science concepts that we are covering in our units, and learn about other cultures. Spanish reading comprehension and reading fluency skills from the magazines will help all my students in their educational experiences in our dual language program.
Our school concentrates on bilingual and bi-cultural learning.
We learn about all countries and cultures where Spanish is spoken. With the magazine, they will be able to research information and learn more during our classroom units and be able to share with others what they learned. My students will be better prepared with the basic skills and unique information to continue in second grade and beyond, during their education in our wonderful dual-language program in our school.
