As a teacher in a low income and high poverty school, my students face challenges daily at school and other places. It is my job as their Kindergarten teacher to build the foundation for the rest of their educational future. I expect them to succeed and I know they will!
Many of my students come to Kindergarten already below grade level!
These students may not know the difference between a letter or a number. They may not even be able to write their names. No matter what disadvantages that they face, I believe that they can and will grow and learn.
One thing my students don't have a lot of access to is magazines.
Magazines are something my students may have never seen before.
I have used the Let's Find Out magazine before and the students really enjoy learning something new in them every week. We read these on Fridays. They include a video about the topic; we read the magazine together and then play the game that is under that topic. My students love these magazines, even if we are learning about history that they may not relate to. Scholastic makes it informative and fun for even students as young as mine. Thank you for your generosity and the ability to get these magazines in the hands of my students.
