Foster 4th graders from Stephen Foster Elementary Charter School are a part of the Appleton Area School District which draws from communities that make up the Fox Cities. Stephen Foster Elementary Charter is a Title I school with great cultural diversity and a wide range of income levels. All of our students are able to participate in the free breakfasts program, and approximately 60% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Many of our students do not have the means to travel beyond the Fox Cities and this 4th grade trip to Madison will be their first chance to explore the world outside of the community they live in.
Our charter has an emphasis on developing future global leaders, and by donating to our project you will help us do just that. I want to provide my students with meaningful life experiences that will help them learn and grow into tomorrow's leaders.
My Project
Fourth graders learn about the state of Wisconsin and the government every year. I want my students to have a real-world experience to deepen their understanding of their local, state, and federal governments.
I want my students to appreciate the role the government plays in our democratic process and feel empowered to participate as an informed, active citizen.
On this amazing trip, students will have the opportunity to tour the Wisconsin State Capitol and the Wisconsin Historical Museum. Both experiences will give students the opportunity to bridge what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. Students will be able to make connections and to see how they are linked to the world around them.
