This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are an amazing group of young adults! They are true student scientists and absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges! They come to school each day ready to learn and grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
My goal is to expose them to as many opportunities they can get in order to help them find their passion and succeed at life.
I want to have a classroom where they feel safe, supported, and loved, so the only thing they need to focus on is their learning. Many of my students have personal struggles and tragedies to deal with outside the classroom. School is a safe place for them, and the majority of students love being here!
My Project
Science is about so much more than just reading in books. It is important to me that I give my students every opportunity to experience the Science around them. In order to complete labs in the classroom, we are in need of lab equipment to stock our classroom. We are doing a unit on chemical reactions this year and I want to be able to show the class different "mad scientist" reactions to build understanding and engagement.
The amazing opportunity to participate in dissections is not frequently given.
Dissections help students learn about the internal structures of animals, how the tissues and organs are interrelated and gives students an appreciation of the complexity of organisms in a hands-on learning environment.
