My students need mathematical activities and games that are appropriate for the learning needs, they need material that lets them have success to build their confidence.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Did you ever struggle with math? My students do, help me to provide interesting visual and kinesthetic ways to engage student interest in learning difficult math skills.
We are an inter-city charter school in Ohio.
Our school is for students with special needs (high functioning Autism, ADHD, and those with Aspergers). We have classrooms with as varied student interest, as we have varying student ability. Our students work best in the concrete, and my hope is move those abstract math concepts to the concrete using games and manipulatives.
My Project
I have requested a variety of math games and manipulatives that will be used in math stations to enhance learning. The games will allow a fun, interactive way for the students to learn basic math skills. The manipulatives will serve as a tool for the student to learn a particular concept and to show a concrete representation of a concept to use and experiment with.
My students tend not to think of games as work even when they are practicing their math skills.
I can’t wait to offer more variety of games and manipulatives that will encourage different skills!
