My Project
Learning a 5th-grade math curriculum is not what it used to be. There are layers upon layers of knowledge that the students need to master in order to be successful. Since it is the first full year back from remote learning, the importance of building knowledge of missing skills is crucial; students cannot master grade-level material until they master skills from previous academic years. Through the use of the games like Splash Multiplication and Division, I know it will help my students take to learning their facts in a more engaging way.
My students tend to learn best in a hands-on way, but that gets difficult with missing supplies and a lack of math manipulatives, to support their learning.
For this project, I am asking for donations to help fund new math manipulatives, grade-appropriate math games, as well as storage and organization for all of our new items. One item that really will help is the 3-5 grade math white boards and clear pockets that we can use for all different areas of the curriculum. These tools will allow students have tools like graph paper and number lines always available to them!
Being that we will be receiving all of these new math tools, the storage cart will be extremely helpful in our classroom. I will use the cart to create a “math center” that students can freely go up to and get whatever tools they may need! M
