it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember what it's like to burst out singing when you hear the right song at the right time or to change your opinion because of something you heard on the Radio? My students are experiencing the power of free speech in their dynamic student run radio station but need your help realize their dreams.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and economic conditions and attend our unique charter high school of the arts and multimedia.
Our school encourages creativity, lifelong learning in the Arts, and excellence in Academic pursuits. Many of the students in the Radio Broadcasting program don't fit into various 'tracks' that characterize many school systems. The Career technical orientation provided in the Radio program prepares them for internships and jobs in the Entertainment Industry. They meet and interview celebrities and people who are key to making the industry grow. They also put on their own shows with artists at the school and with local bands whom they promote on the station.
My Project
We're asking for headphones and a computer so that students can work side by side in the studio without disturbing each other. Good headphones are a vital part of any studio and allow students to focus on their creative expression and broadcasting craft. Computers are the engine of the station as almost all the tasks needed to run the station are performed on them.
This is an important project because it allows students to discover skills they never thought they had.
It also teaches them an important aspect of our nation's destiny - freedom of speech. There is nothing more important than helping our future as they are the realization of the dream that we hold for our nation's future
