Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I public school in a diverse community. Our school is one of seven high schools in our city and with a student population of roughly 2,000 children. My students deserve a well-stocked art classroom and a variety of materials to better explore their world and learn about life through the arts! As 100% free lunch district, resources are always extremely limited. My yearly budget is $2.00 per student which makes it very difficult to provide students with interesting, engaging and creative projects. Multiple times over the year I purchase supplies out of my own pocket to provide students with new experiences but these projects would help me to reach all students. Just this year alone I hosted a gallery walk where each students' artwork was on display. Over 500 original masterpieces lined our hallways. Artists from all walks of life were represented and showcased.

My students are creative and love to learn about art through the exploration of materials.

They love hands-on, active, and engaging projects. Truly, they are my inspiration. The relationship we create and maintain is one of the main reasons I continue to give my all in an inner-city district!

My Project

There are really no limits to how much my students will benefit from having a fully functional laptop in our classroom. It will be used for everything! Students will be able to share online homework assignments with as well as create digital artwork using Photoshop. My students will directly benefit from this laptop because they will be introduced to academically aligned and relevant content and programs to help facilitate an additional form of creating art. This computer will allow ALL work that students do in the classroom to be photographed and airdropped for display so that we can have class discussions centered directly around their work. Students will be able to airdrop their all other work to this computer within seconds which will allow for AMAZING current learning opportunities in the classroom.

The need for a working laptop in the art classroom is a crucial necessity for every art teacher and student on a daily basis to achieve 21st-century learning.

My students simply do not have access to the technology they should without a working laptop that can sync with the current technology in the classroom. This laptop will allow students, additional teachers, and me to provide students with access to digital resources and content that make learning more academically challenged, enhanced, engaging, and fun. We need your help to make this dream come true!
