My Students

My students are an energetic bunch of third graders. I teach 41 sweet kiddos math and science. They absolutely love getting their hands dirty and solving real world problems. They are all still so excited about math and science and my goal is to keep them engaged in that at this age, so they continue that love the rest of their lives.

We have a diverse group of students coming from all walks of life, but the one thing they have in common is a love of learning.

My Project

The K'NEX building sets in this project will help students make real world connections to their learning. Instead of watching a video or completing a worksheet about simple machines and energy, students will be able to build these items themselves. This gives them something to connect to remember their learning and hopefully enjoy it, as well.

In third grade, students start to decide whether they like reading or math more.

My goal as a teacher is to keep them loving all subjects, even my girls. Math and science careers are options for all of my students, so to keep them loving these subjects can affect their lives in the future.
