Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I service students from grades K-5, in a small, urban community in Los Angeles. Many of my students come from low-income households and Distance Learning has been a challenge for all of us. Distance learning has been a challenge not only for our students and parents, but for teachers as well. Our school is a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch and supper. Despite all financial odds, we were able to provide a device and a hotspot for all of our students with help from our District. These are unprecedented times demanding more, economically, from educators.
My Project
I don't think any educator ever imagined to be teaching remotely from home. However, this pandemic has not stopped our students from moving forward in their academics. They have come across many obstacles such as not having a personal device at home or not having internet service. One issue that has made it difficult to teach is having an outdated Chromebook.
Having a newer generation MacBook Pro will make it easier to teach because it will provide consistency in teaching a full smooth lesson.
My lessons need to be delivered on a daily basis and as scheduled. My students deserve the best I can provide them with so that they can meet their college and career goals. A new MacBook Pro will allow just that!
More than half of students from low‑income households
