Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have been the Computer Lab Technology Aide at my school site in Los Angeles for four years. I love teaching technology to our future teachers, engineers, doctors, veterinarians, business men and women, and students headed for many more careers. Teaching my students everything that computers allow us to do is important to me. I want my kids to know and understand that a computer is not just to play games on. Computers have a positive effect on our society, and I want them to learn and understand that already.
My Project
This MacBook will make the Computer Lab so much better. I will be able to help my students work on their lessons on this MacBook rather than from my phone. With this MacBook, I am able to have a more organized Computer Lab where I am able to walk around and help my students.
Currently, we have 30 Macs in the Computer Lab so I am able to easily share work with the students' computers by using AirDrop.
With the MacBook, I will not have to keep moving a student over while I use his or her desktop. I will be able to view, check, and edit the student work.
My students will continue to develop the necessary computer skills that will help them with their future careers. They will be able to program and code as often as necessary because we will have the MacBook. Teaching computer technology is an asset that essentially helps society, so having a MacBook to work from will enable me to help my students to access the necessary skills of the 21st century.
Our school has a robotics team of 3rd through 5th graders. Currently, they are only able to program in their classroom room. By having a MacBook, they will be able to move around the Computer Lab. Right now they have to go to the desktop to program. Then they go to the floor to try out their program on their EV3 robot. When programming doesn't work out, they go back to the desktop.
Having the MacBook will make it so much easier for students to program. They will not have to waste time going back and forth to the desktop. Programming can occur on the spot! I know my students will appreciate it!
