This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are motivated, eager, and inspiring. I want to provide them with the most opportunities possible! Being smart is cool in my classroom! My students inspire me every day because they are driven to leave my classroom smarter than when they arrived.

They push the boundaries of excellence by asking questions, helping each other, and working hard.

Every student in my classroom has a Growth Mindset. There are no Fixed Mindset students in here! My school fosters every type of learner. Within our mission, we provide 21st century project based learning for the students. We know that in order to best reach our students and allow them different strategies to learn.

My Project

The "Flipped Classroom" is a strategy that allows students to learn content at home and bring their knowledge to the classroom. It is stated in research that students do not have questions until they are exposed to the content, so if they are exposed at home, and ask questions at school, the note taking process is alleviated. This also allows students to work at their own pace in their own environment without any pressure. Teaching 5th grade for the first time this year, I have learned that there is not enough time in the day to fully prepare each student with all 5 subjects; something always gets put on the back burner. With a flipped classroom, I can take out the note-taking time and add differentiated centers a day before I had planned.

This donation will help improve my classroom by giving myself and students access to create videos to promote the Flipped Classroom Model.

I will make videos using this device through the "iMovie" application and teach students to make them as well. This will add a more rigorous component to encouraging the Depths of Knowledge Level 4 (Create) in the classroom and at home. By having access to this computer, students will have more time in the classroom to apply what they have learned!
